Podcasting

I love podcasting! I love listening to them and creating them. I love the way I can sit in my study, record a show, upload it to the Internet and five minutes later someone in Australia can download it and listen to it on their mp3 player on the way to work the next day.

What is podcasting?

In simple terms, podcasting is the act of putting audio or video on the Internet so it can be downloaded automatically by anyone who wants it. It’s just like subscribing to a newspaper or magazine… except it’s on the Internet and normally free.

My podcasting career

The It’s A Frog’s Life Acoustic Podcast is my first show (started July 2006), and features some of the best unsigned, independent and podsafe acoustic music from across the UK. Because of copyright laws I can only play music that I have permission for. Fortunately there are hundreds of musicians who own the copyright to their music and are more than willing to let me share it with the rest of the world. In 2009 the show came second in the music category of the Podcast Peer Awards.

AMPed New Music Weekly is the weekly update podcast from the Association of Music Podcasting. Each show is hosted by a different AMP member, and features tracks submitted by other members around the world. I’ve been a member of AMP since October 2006, and have been submitting tracks to AMPed since November 2006. I’ve also hosted the show a number of times over the years.

Instrumental Rewind (started May 2007) features the instrumental bedding tracks used on the previous episodes of the It’s A Frog’s Life Acoustic Podcast.

The Made in the UK Show features some of the best music independent and unsigned music that the UK has to offer. Each show is hosted by three different podcasters, each introducing two of their favourite tracks. I’ve been a host since January 2008.

The Liverpool Acoustic Spotlight is a twice monthly show (started May 2008) featuring the musicians due to appear at each subsequent Liverpool Acoustic Live and eXtra shows.

It's A Frog's Life Acoustic Podcast"Hi Graham, I don't normally write things like this but I love your podcast so much that I really felt like I should say thank you. I came across it accidentally while browsing through radio channels on iTunes a few months ago, and have been listening to it ever since. Thanks for taking the time to put together these absolutely beautiful collections of music. They help wake me up in the morning and put me to sleep at night. I'll be moving to London from NYC in a few weeks and I very much look forward to seeking out some of the artists you've introduced me to and attending their live performances! And maybe one day I will ask you to play something I've recorded... Thank you so much for this great podcast. Jen Garza, New"
